The Brief will feature photography from students who have chosen to part of the exhibition after completing the beginner, advanced or master class CDP photography workshops during 2012 session One, Two and Three.

Curious Art Exhibition

“The exhibition celebrates the journey of life with my father Floyd Lombardi and uncle Ray when I was living at the Navajo Trading Post adobe house on the Four Corners of America Navajo Reservation. The Rio Grande ran behind the Trading Post located just an hour from Santa Fe, New Mexico, USA.

It was early 1950’s and I was eleven years old. I grew up hearing many stories and gained insights into the Navajo culture and way of life which left an indelible impression upon my thinking, my life and my art.

We were privileged to be part of the many Native Festivals. My father was one of the very few given permission to photograph the festivities.This exhibition includes unique archival photography from those early years on the reservation."

Session Three for beginners/intermediate

Full Cost for 2 hours per week with two instructors
8 week Session $240 per person

The lessons involve a new brief each week for shooting on location with the instructors, constructive feedback and home assignments.

The Hungry Ocean

Exhibition continues…

featuring the work of  Michael Bryant and Tracy Jay

The Hungry Ocean has been showing for the last two weeks.  There have been many visitors to the Gallery who don’t live in the immediate area and are amazed at the extent of the erosion Kingscliff has suffered since 2009. The extensive body of photographic work chronicles the massive coastal erosion events affecting the tourist town of Kingscliff Beach from 2009-2011.

An entire foreshore has effectively been reclaimed by the ocean. Hundreds of trees and sea grass that grew upon the dunes and walk tracks to the beach are either buried under the sand or have been renoved by Tweed Shire Council.

A service road to the car park at the southern end of the beach literally fell into the ocean during 2009/2010. There is a a wilderness of sand now extending  from the northern wall to just south of the Surf Club. Major works are still been undertaken from the Club House to the Bowling Club. The jury is still out on the future of this local foreshore…

The exhibition aims to promote awareness of the local issue as a microcosm of global events.

QLD Festival of Photography Exhibitions

Several venues have exhibitions opening during March in the lead up to the Official start of the Qld Festival of Photography4 this April.
Currently 46 participating Galleries from Cairns to the Gold Coast will be hosting  photography exhibitions during March/April/May.

Curious Art Initiative

Artists, Tracy Jay and Michael Bryant from Curious Digital Photography will first hold a no cost one off open day for prospective students. The purpose of this open day is to provide a preview of how the workshops will be structured. It is an ideal opportunity to "taste and try before you buy." (*The full 8 week course commences Monday 5th March.)
They are especially structured for beginners to intermediate digital photographers.

The workshops are aimed at cultivating photographic skills through an enjoyable creative process.

The workshops will be held in a studio environment at the Curious Art Gallery, situated in an ever changing riverside setting with expansive panoramic views across the Tweed River to Wollumbin/Mt.Warning.

Participants are expected to bring a camera (any variety i.e. Digital SLR, 35mm film SLR, compact point and shoot etc.)

The open workshop day will be held Monday 20th February. Workshop starts 10.30am e.d.s.t.
